7 FAM 1552 Federal voting assistance program (FVAP) Requirements
(CT:CON-983; 05-24-2023)
The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) is required by law to conduct a survey after every Presidential election, and to send the results to the White House and Congress. FVAP generally surveys five groups: local election officials in the United States, military voting assistance officers (VAOs), State Department VAOs, military personnel in the United States and military personnel abroad. VAOs are strongly encouraged to participate in the VAO survey and provide critical feedback to the Federal Voting Assistance Program Office at the Department of Defense (DOD) on the FVAP Web site, as well as to the Department of State’s Chief Voting Action Officer.
