The living quarters allowance (LQA) is granted to employees under procedures found in section STNRG-0130 of the Standardized Regulations. It is intended to cover the average employee’s costs for rent, heat, lights, fuel, gas, electricity, water, and certain other fees. The amount of the LQA is calculated on the basis of the employee personnel classification or position.

The LQA grant is recalculated, if required, as of the date of any change in the salary of an employee who is advanced temporarily from a subordinate position to a position in charge of a post under the provisions of 3 FAM 3130 (see section STNRG-0132.3d of the Standardized Regulations).
