a. Eligible family members of Foreign Service employees:  enrollment of eligible family members in language training, area studies, and personal security training incident to an employee’s assignment abroad are administered by the agency authorizing official or designee listed in the following table:

b. Eligible family members may self-enroll in informal workshops and seminars offered by FSI’s Transition Center (FSI/TC) that are open to all adult family members of U.S. foreign affairs agency employees and designated as “no fee.”

13 FAH-1 H-622  Functional Training Related to Potential Employment at Post

a. Functional training for eligible family members who are U.S. citizens may be provided if there is a reasonable expectation that they will be employed by the post of their family member’s assignment in that particular functional area.

b. U.S. citizen spouses of employees of other agencies may also be eligible for functional training on a reimbursable basis.

c.  Functional training registration is coordinated by the Family Liaison Office (HR/FLO) which works closely with, and obtains the necessary clearances from, functional and regional bureaus before registering family members in classes.
