a. The Office of Diplomatic Pouch and Mail (A/LM/PMP/DPM) recommends that customers consider purchasing insurance when mailing parcels to and from post. When mail containing a USPS tracking number does not arrive at post, or when mail arrives at post and appears to have some or all of the contents missing, customers may file a report via the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) portal, or via telephone at 1-877-876-2455, and the DPO supervisor shall submit a Postal Offense report in ILMS DPO within 72 hours.
b. If the DPO mailroom staff suspects rifling (tampering) during the processing of mail of a parcel without a USPS tracking number, the staff will immediately notify the DPO supervisor, and the supervisor shall submit a Postal Offense Report in ILMS DPO within 72 hours.
c. When mail not containing a USPS tracking number does not arrive at post, or when mail arrives at post and appears to have some or all of the contents missing, customers may also file a report via the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) portal, or via telephone at 1-877-876-2455.
